The  realistically grounded costumes of the 1890s balance the slightly dreamy set in this beloved tragedy. We see Irina lose her lightness and optimism, in her slow progression to gray. Natasha's layered ensembles represent her constant search for opulence, attention, and status through her ability to afford an overabundance of fabric. A filmed covid production, masks were just one of the many puzzle pieces involved in this play coming together.
